Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP/HEA) - Assists low-income customers with their energy needs. Provides assistance with repair or replacement of heaters. Will negotiate with utility companies regarding bills. What It Does: A financial crisis can happen to anyone, regardless of age, income or family situation. NJ SHARES provides assistance to individuals and families living in New Jersey who are in need of temporary help in paying their energy bills. Assists individuals and families who need help paying energy bills due to a temporary financial crisis. Also has UW CARES water utility bill assistance. Non-profit Corporation organized to provide assistance to individuals and families who are in need of temporary help in paying their energy bill. To qualify a person or family must be facing a financial crisis and not be eligible for welfare. Eligibility Requirements: No income guidelines for this program. Applicants cannot be receiving LIHEAP or USF. Must demonstrate a temporary financial need. Assistance for those who made a “good faith” payment of $100 or more within 90 days prior to applying.
