Description:
No cost legal assistance to Ocean County residents, age 60 plus. Frail, vulnerable, disabled and low income populations receive priority consideration for services. Possible services include:
1. Information and referral
2. Legal counsel and advice
3. Brief service
4. Legal representation, depending upon facts of case and availability of staff resources.
Types of matters addressed include, but no are limited to: housing issues (including Social Security and SSI), Medicaid and Medicare and other health insurance benefit issues; wills, power of attorney and advance directives; consumer law issues.
CHLP also provides free legal and advocacy services on civil matters to persons under age 60, but eligibility for services is limited to low income persons with a physical or mental disability.
